The 1110 series was an electric locomotive of the ÖBB, designed as a express locomotive, which was delivered from the mid-1950s. In 1974 and 1975, ten 1110s received DC resistance brakes. The converted machines were given the series designation 1110.5 while maintaining the old order number. Particular distinguishing features were the large superstructures on the roof ends with the fans for the electric brake and the single-spar roof current collectors. With a top speed of 110 km/h, the locomotives were used in both fast and freight train service.
