Product Features and Details
Prototype: The Atlantic class 221 was first introduced in 1900 at the Paris world fair. It was the star of the show and was simply the best-proportioned and most elegant locomotive of its era. The design and mechanics was a breakthrough for the steam era. The Nord class 221 was the first steam locomotive which featured the revolutionary four-cylinder compound technology, making it the most advanced steam locomotive of its time. Also since it was the first four-cylinder compound locomotive it influenced most locomotive manufacturers at the time to develop future four-cylinder steam locomotives. The idea of four compound cylinders was a remarkable achievement and the new technology was a stepping-stone for future steam locomotive development.
Model: We consider the Fulgurex French Nord Class 221 to be one of the finest and most elegant models which fulgurex ever produced, only 100 were produced so the model is very rare. The model features a replicated four-cylinder drive with moving shafts and cranks, bell-shaped "Faulhaber" type motor, functional front and rear lanterns, full interior in the cab and functional boiler door. This model is simply exquisite and would make a nice addition to any collection.
