Product Features and Details
Prototype: IIn 1936 the NORD railroad experimented with streamlining following guidelines used by the English Railroads. Many 4-6-2 pacific's type locomotives were fitted with streaming. The NORD Railroad undertook many wind tunnel trials trying to achieve the best-streamlined variations. The best results with a streamlined fairing was fitted to the Class 231 Super Pacific. The streamlining achieved faster travel times up to the French maximum allow speed of 120 kmh. The French streamlined locomotives however did not last long because of difficult maintenance, costs and reduced visibility for the Locomotive Engineer. In 1938, the locomotive No. 3.1280 was given a special blue royal livery to honor the visit of the English King George VI and Queen Elizabeth. This was an exquisite locomotive with both the French and British Flags draped on the locomotive.
Model: We consider the Fulgurex Royal French Super Pacific Nord to be one of the finest and most elegant models Fulgurex models, only 100 were produced so the model is very rare. The model features a replicated four-cylinder drive with moving shafts and cranks, bell-shaped "Faulhaber" type motor, functional front and rear lanterns, full interior in the cab and functional boiler door. This model is simply exquisite and would make a nice addition to any collection.
