I wanted a reliable trackage right off since I was new to Z scale, so I went with Marklin and have been satisfied. I cut the Flex Track to the length I need with a Dremel, then square up ends for a "T" shape with no rough edges by using a metal file to smooth. But, be careful you don't "round" the rail head itself by filing too much, or you will get a dip and noticeable click when wheels run over that joint. Rail joiners are delicate, but if you slide them on with patience and they are snug, they keep up the electrical connection very well. Try to avoid kinks, awkward spots, by looking closely at the smoothness of your curves and how your straight track enters a curve. I prefer an "easement" rather than abrupt straight to curve, especially for mainline trackage with high-speed trains.
