Electric locomotive Rh 1144 of the ÖBB, epoch VI, with sound
With the newly designed PIKO 1044/1144, there will for the first time also be authentic models with the high serial numbers of this series in 1:87. The characterful locomotive face of the former ÖBB parade horse was excellently met in the model implementation, as was the striking side section of the vehicles, which with the pronounced beads and the typical "portholes" posed challenges to the mold construction. The resulting impression of an ideal visual effect continues in the locomotive's bogies. Last but not least, the new 1044 is technically convincing: A five-pole PIKO motor with two finely balanced flywheels on its shaft ensures even propulsion. Model railroaders who prefer digital operation benefit from the modern PluX22 interface - it allows a digital decoder to be installed in a few simple steps. The middle conductor versions of the model are factory-fitted with mfx®-capable digital decoders. The light change, which is obligatory today, was implemented using contemporary LED technology, as was the attractive driver's desk illumination. However, the lighting in the driver's cab, which is also available in the PIKO model and can be switched in digital mode, is not a matter of course.
