New in 2024: Despite technical deficits, the 1000 series locomotives were visually very appealing designs that still had a touch of the streamlined age. This fact was both an incentive and a challenge for the PIKO designers. The sides of the elongated electric locomotive are structured by the finely engraved ventilation grilles, above which crystal-clear and perfectly flush engine room windows were installed. The roof is characterized by a streamlined hood. A finely detailed chassis peeps out from under the long beam and rolls on extremely delicate spoke wheels. Technically, the PIKO model stands in clear contrast to the model: a solid drive ensures reliable pulling power. The lighting with numerous switchable functions uses LED technology. The heart of the system is a modern motherboard with a PluX22 interface. The model, which is factory-equipped with a PSD XP sound decoder and has a large loudspeaker, has numerous entertaining sound effects. The model bears the “fits mfx†quality mark. In order to make digital decoders reliably usable for all users of the current Marklin digital centers, a new quality mark fits mfx was introduced together with Marklin and other manufacturers. This can only be used by digital decoders that have undergone a special mfx test and have passed it completely. These decoders and the locomotives in which they are installed carry the fits mfx quality mark, which certifies the unrestricted mfx functionality. This means that PIKO products with the “fits mfx†logo now fully support the diverse functions of mfx.
