The so-called "Diving Goggles" or "Spectacled Snake" was developed and built by CKD in Prague. The T 478.4, a further development of its predecessor type T 478.3, received a more powerful engine and an electric train heating system. In 1988, the 86 locomotives were reclassified as Class 754.
