Product Features and Details
Model: Handmade brass model, highly detailed in a limited edition. The cars have doors which can be opened and spring-loaded buffers. The spoked wheels meet RP 25 FS standards.
Prototype: This beer car was designed in 1882 by von Ringhoffer, Prague for the KFNB (Kaiser Ferdinand Nord-Bahn). The particular car was used by the Saybusch brewery. The car met the standard dimensions of all the regular box cars of this time, but was smaller inside due to the insulation and ice chambers. Some other characteristics were the vertical side boards and the 2 little loading doors on each side. It is unbelievable that there were 1170 beer cars in service just for this railroad alone.
