100 Years of the Class 44
Prototype: Class 44 heavy freight steam locomotive with a standard 2´2´T34 oil tender of the German Federal Railroad (DB). Black/red livery. Cab with two side windows, standard Witte smoke deflectors, leading wheelset with spoked wheels, without smokebox central locking, with inductive train control (Indusi) magnets on both ends. Locomotive road number 44 1315.
Restored locomotive at the Märklineum in its historical operating condition circa 1963/64.
Model: Locomotive and tender predominantly made of die-cast metal. Coreless motor with flywheel installed in the boiler. 5 axles driven via coupling rods, traction tires. Built-in mfx DCC digital decoder and sound generator. Locomotive and tender are close-coupled. Three-light headlights, engine and cab lighting made of warm white LEDs. Three-light headlights operate in analog mode. NEM coupler pocket at the tender end. Smokebox door opens. Piston rod protection tubes are included. Length over buffers 141 mm.
