    Product Features and Details
HO Scale DC Era III MFX Includes a digital decoder Includes a sound effect

Prototype: Heavy US steam locomotive of class 3900 "Challenger", in the rebuilt version with oil tender of the Union Pacific Railroad (UP). Modeled as a museum locomotive in Cody Park, North Platte NE, with road number 3977. Era III and VI.

Model: With digital decoder and extensive light and sound functions. Various operating sounds, such as refilling oil and water, or the opening and closing of sliding windows and ventilation flaps in the cab, can be digitally controlled. Controlled high-efficiency propulsion with flywheel in the boiler. 6 axles driven. Traction tires. Articulated chassis for smooth curve negotiation. Boxpok wheels. Headlights on locomotive and tender. Headlights operate conventionally and can be digitally controlled. Cab lighting and illuminated number plates/marker lights can be digitally controlled separately. Lighting with maintenance-free warm white LEDs. Buffer accumulator. Speed-dependent dynamic smoke emission is standard and also digitally controlled. Powerful speaker in the tender. A coupler imitation can be inserted into the standard coupler pocket on the snowplow at the front. Close coupling with kinematics between locomotive and tender. Steam pipes on the front bogie pivot with the cylinders. Metal grab irons. Many other separately applied details. Engine driver and fireman figures in the cab. Locomotive screwed to a display base for transport protection.
    Length over couplings 42.5 cm.

Operating Instructions: The locomotive can be used on curved track with a radius of 360 mm or greater; however, we recommend larger radii. Due to the overhang of the long boiler, signals, overhead line masts, bridge railings, tunnel portals, etc., must maintain sufficient clearance from the track curve. The track must be securely fastened to support the locomotive's considerable weight. Turntables and transfer tables can only be used in the through position. Products bearing "Union Pacific" are made under trademark license from the Union Pacific Railroad Company.

A suitable US heavyweight wagon set can be found in the Trix H0 range under item number 23729. This model is also available in an AC version in the Märklin H0 range under item number 39913.
