The private railway company Rail Traction Company, based in Bolzano, has been operating cross-border freight transport for over 20 years. For several years now, RTC and its partner company Lokomotion have each operated five Siemens Class 189 locomotives. These locomotives were acquired from the locomotive leasing company MRCE and have been in use by both companies ever since. The RTC locomotives have red zebra stripes, while those of Lokomotion have blue zebra stripes.
